15 July
Today's weather was good news/ bad news.
The good news: the rain subsided for most of the day- it didn't start until later this evening, after we had arrived at the house. It was really nice to not have to manage an umbrella or worry about navigating really huge puddles.
The bad news: it should have rained, but didn't.. It was warm, humid, and the air was heavy and thick all day.
Even though I showered last night before bed AND it rained most of the night, which helped cool it down a bit, I still woke up not quite drenched in sweat, but close. And that was just the beginning... :)
The rest of the day went something like this: 10 minute walk to the Parassini bus station at 8:30 am (including a hill with about 120 steps), breakfast outside at the college, vigorously sanding and prepping an area at the school for painting from 10-11 am, playing with kids for another hour, walking about a mile to lunch, sitting in a very warm classroom with no fans (because you can't hear the instructor when they are on) from 2-4, and then two hours of yoga outdoors.
By the time I got back to the house, around 6:45 tonight, I was.... let's just say.... ripe... ;). I do not think I was dry at all today. Literally, my linen pants were damp from the humidity, my hair was as wet as if I had just gotten out of the shower (humidity + sweat) and we're not even going to talk about my undies.
Thankfully I was able to pop in the shower before dinner, and since the house was relatively empty I was able to take my time. Oh, right, now might be a good time to mention that we do not have hot water and all showers are cold. To be honest, it is so hot here it really has not been a problem, but tonight it was the most fabulous thing ever. Not only could I not wait to get in, I was absolutely giddy about it.
I'd like to give a shout out of thanks to the universal life force* because as soon as I was out of the shower the rain started, and this time it really cooled off!!
So, it's about 10:30 Monday night, I'm in bed listening to a little Mumford and Sons and i am cool and actually 100% dry for the first time in literally a week (since I was in the lovely air conditioned hotel room in Bangalore).
Very grateful for simple pleasures :)
* our Yoga Master is a big fan of thanking the universal life force. When in Rome, right? ;)
