Sun Salutations and a Cyclone

18 July
Today was one of my favorite yoga classes to date!!

We started with 15 minutes of intense stretching, then moved on to a bit of a theoretical discussion about the origin of and the seven movements of the praying pose (mudra).

That led to sun salutations (since you begin the movement with the praying mudra).

After our instructor's assistant finished her second round of sun salutations the rain started.

The view out the window of our yoga studio, which is basically an open area on the top floor of a three story school.  Tin roof and open windows

And the rain didn't stop. And then the wind kicked in and it didn't stop either.  After about three or four minutes of pretty intense rain it got even more violent. The downpour was so strong that rain was coming into the yoga room sideways, it began pouring into the back storage area, you could not hear anyone, regardless of how hard they yelled, and the metal roof sounded like it would fly off.  At that point out Yoga Master hurried   everyone out of the room and a more protected corridor downstairs.

After about another minute it started to subside until the rain all of a sudden stopped. At that point we learned that we had just experienced a mini cyclone and lived to tell the tale..

Since all was well we went back upstairs, finished the lesson and sun salutation practice, and wrapped up the day.

Lesson learned, do sun salutations at sunrise and sunset and all will be balanced in the universe. Do them midday and the universe will be angry ;)

#achievement unlocked: experience a mini cyclone.
