for those of you who know me really well, you know I’m a bit of a travel freak.. or at least I was when I was in my 20’s. The last few years have not really offered much in the way of adventure travel, or even just travel to be honest. Until now =)
One of my best friends in Austin, amazing artist Sara Hasslinger, has been working with a couple different nonprofit organizations that do amazing work in Kenya. Sara decided to travel with one of the groups this year and I’ve been helping her with organizational and fundraising support in her effort to get there. After another evening of talking about how fracking amazing this experience is going to be, and me getting pure green with envy, Sara put me in touch with the trip coordinator to see if I could go. I was in luck- they had someone drop out a few days before and a spot opened up! But I had to commit within a few days as we were 9 weeks from departure date and flights were getting booked!
Long story short-the stars aligned and there was a spot on the team for another person, I have the COOLEST bosses in the world who agreed to give me the time off, one of my closest friends in Austin is going, SO I’M GOING TO AFRICA in less than 7 weeks!
SO, I am making lists of things to do (shots, flights, fundraising, events, etc) and trying not to freak out about how fast the next seven weeks are going to go by!
